What Patients Say
Mount Sinai Queens is an exceptional place where you will find warm, caring and capable caregivers. We take great pride in providing excellent care always to our community - both in the hospital and at our outpatient facilities. Being Mount Sinai means always striving to be better than our very best. While we are fully accredited by the state and Joint Commission, we also enjoy the endorsement and praise from patients whom we've served.
We receive patient feedback on how we're doing in providing them the care they need. We are pleased that we consistently score well and continue to improve. In fact, in 2008 more than 2 out of 3 patients in our care said they would recommend us to friends and family. That's 4% better than the New York state average.
We also receive many stories from patients and their loved ones, thanking us for the personalized and effective care they've received. Take a look at some of our patient stories.
Patient Stories: What Patients Say About Mount Sinai Queens
"On May 28, I was admitted to 4E from your Emergency Department. Dr. Panagiotis Manolas, who is a wonderful surgeon, performed my gallbladder surgery. I would also like to give Dr. Nasser Alkurdi a special thank you for his caring and professional attention. The nurses in the OR and the PACU showed compassion not only to me but to the patients all around me."

"My husband was hospitalized on the 3rd Floor, West Wing in May of 2008. I want to thank the entire staff on the floor. They were caring, compassionate, professional and very supportive to both me and my husband. Special thanks to head nurse Ann who is an angel; not only to my family but to her whole staff."
- Kathy
"A friend of mine was recently hospitalized at your facility. She needed extensive follow-up acute care from a skilled facility and because her insurance was inadequate, Gladys Goldberg, Director of Social Services, and her social workers Stephanie Jalinos and Rebecca Schochet pulled out all the stops and arranged for her care in a very nice place. They give new meaning to the word caring."

"The Emergency Department staff was excellent. Evelyn Guevarra was the nurse who admitted me quickly. My assigned room was on 4 West. There, I saw nurses Olivia Clemente, Viktoriya Laskina, Maria Villa and Unit Clerk Elsa Ayabaca-Lopez. I was also seen by Dr. Bankin Patel. They all work so well together. Their professional attitude was appreciated. Please forward my special thanks to all."

"After some days of trying to think of a thank you for your treatment, I figure I'll never be able to do it suitably. The hospital itself is so refreshing, just upon entering. Everywhere I went there was a joyful spirit. The helpers were happy in their various duties and gave an extra hand. So many doctors helped, I was overwhelmed. I am thankful for all who gave their talents. It was also gratifying to meet people I hadn't seen in years. That's the gift of being a teacher."

"I want to express my appreciation that your facility has invested in and participates in your Palliative Care Program. Until about two weeks ago I had no knowledge of such a program. I was in great distress concerning my loved one who was 94 years old, ill and undergoing tests. Dr. Shirwaikar and one of the nurses suggested I meet with the Palliative Care Committee. I met with Ms. Lillian Espinoza. I am most grateful and appreciative for the clear and concise information that she provided so that appropriate decisions could be made. Please extend my sincere thanks. Ms. Espinoza is a great asset to your facility and she is a benefit to your patients and their families."

"After completing a surgical procedure and a six-day stay at MSQ, I want to let you know that everyone from pre-admission staff, surgeons, nurses, and all food service and housekeeping workers did an outstanding job! Surgery was as lonely an experience as I can remember. You all came through on my behalf perfectly. I want t offer my highest commendation to Anastasia Ninos, RN, 4 East. She exhibited every quality a patient could desire in a nurse - compassion, intellect, respect, upbeat attitude, team spirit, everything to make my recover experience as comfortable as possible."
