Mount Sinai Queens Welcomes Vinisha Patel, MD to Medical Staff
After a dozen years at The Mount Sinai Medical Center, an excellent internal medicine specialist joins Mount Sinai Queens.
Mount Sinai Queens has appointed Vinisha Patel, MD, to its growing medical staff. Dr. Patel, board certified in internal medicine, has been practicing for 13 years. She will see patients at the Mount Sinai Queens Family Health Associates office at 31-60 21st Street in Astoria, where her focus will be on prevention, type 2 diabetes, and hypertension.
Dr. Patel began her outreach to the northwestern Queens community by presenting a free lecture entitled, “Diabetes: Type 2 and A Healthier You.” This was the first in a series of free talks, sponsored by Mount Sinai Queens, which Dr. Patel plans to offer to in the coming months.
"Dr. Patel is a solid addition to the Mount Sinai Queens medical staff," says David M. Nierman, MD, MMM, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Medical Affairs. "She has distinguished herself as a highly respected clinician with a vast knowledge of medicine who develops an easy rapport with her patients."
Prior to joining Mount Sinai Queens, Dr. Patel was an attending physician and clinical assistant professor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Manhattan, where she served for five years. Previously, she was an attending physician at Crozer Chester Medical Center in Upland, PA while also serving as an Attending at Worth Health Center at Swarthmore College, where she treated undergraduate students.
Dr. Patel earned her medical degree from Albany Medical College and completed her residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Patel lives in Manhattan, a short commute from the hospital, with her husband and five-year-old twins. She’s happy to be a part of the Mount Sinai Queens community, having served in the system for many years, and is enjoying the neighborhood.
Mount Sinai Queens is a 235-bed community hospital located in Long Island City and serving the communities of western Queens and beyond. It was purchased by The Mount Sinai Hospital in June 1999 and has a medical staff of more than 400 physicians representing 36 medical and surgical specialties.
