Mount Sinai Queens Welcomes New Pediatrician on Staff: Christopher T. Clemens, MD
Multicultural urban, pediatric, and adolescent medicine comes to western Queens.
Long Island City, Queens—Mount Sinai Queens has appointed Christopher T. Clemens, MD, to its medical staff. Dr. Clemens, a board-certified pediatrician in practice for 14 years, brings to the hospital a deep commitment to multi-cultural urban, pediatric, and adolescent medicine.
"We’re proud to have a physician of Dr. Clemens’ caliber on our staff," says David M. Nierman, MD, Chief Medical Officer and Vice President, Medical Affairs. "His strong background in pediatric medicine and his compassion for his patients and their families combine to make him an excellent fit for Mount Sinai Queens."
Dr. Clemens began his outreach to the community almost immediately by giving two free lectures entitled, “Clearing Up the Confusion About Vaccines,” in which he addressed parents’ concerns over possible risks associated with vaccinating young children. The lectures, held at Mount Sinai Family Health Associates, 31-60 21st Street, Astoria, NY, were sponsored by Mount Sinai Queens. This was the first in a series of free lectures Dr. Clemens plans to offer to the community in the coming months.
Dr. Clemens was a Pediatric Hospitalist and Outpatient Clinic and Emergency Attending at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital before joining Mount Sinai Queens. Previously, he was a Pediatric Primary Care Attending Physician with a focus on adolescents in a private practice in Manhattan for 11 years.
After receiving his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in 1993 with a concentration in infectious diseases, Dr. Clemens completed his residency in pediatrics at The Johns Hopkins Hospital at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Mount Sinai Queens is a 235-bed community hospital located in Long Island City and serving the communities of western Queens and beyond. It was purchased by The Mount Sinai Hospital in June 1999 and has a medical staff of more than 400 physicians representing 36 medical and surgical specialties.
